¡Huye! / Get Out fue la mayor ganadora de la reciente entrega de los Independent Spirit Awards, en la víspera de los Oscar 2018, al triunfar en las categorías de Mejor película y Mejor director para Jordan Peele.

Entre los otros ganadores de los Spirit Awards, también se llevó dos premios "Llámame por tu nombre / Call Me by Your Name" en la categoría de Cinematografía, y el premio a mejor actor para el joven Timotheé Chalamet.

Tres anuncios en las afueras / Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri también obtuvo dos trofeos por actuación, Frances McDormand resultó ganadora a Mejor actriz y Sam Rockwell triunfó como Mejor actor de reparto.

Tambien se llevaron estatuillas Greta Gerwig a Mejor guion por Lady Bird, Allison Janney como Mejor actriz de reparto en Yo, Tonya / I, Tonya y la chilena Una mujer fantástica fue reconocida Mejor cinta extranjera.

Los Spirit Awards, de cara a los premios Oscar, han predecido en los últimos cuatro años a la coronada por la Academia como Mejor película, entre ellos la triunfadora de 2017, Moonlight.
